ACCENTO FILMS

Founded by multi award winning writer/director Elbert van Strien and producer Claudia Brandt, Accento Films is focussed on director-driven striking films, which are accessible to international audiences, with special emphasis on intelligent genre films.

Starting with short films, Accento Films has produced THE HIDDEN FACE, a psychic thriller by Elbert van Strien which won the Hans Christian Andersen Award and the Silver Méliès (watch trailer) and STILL WORLD, a Kafkaesque thriller / photo-film (nomination Best Dutch Short, shown at New Directors/New Films at MoMA, NY). In 2010 Accento Films released its first feature film, psychological thriller TWO EYES STARING directed by Elbert van Strien and starring Barry Atsma and Hadewych Minis (watch trailer). Awarded with the NPP Development Prize Two Eyes Staring had its international premiere at the Edinburgh Film Festival, after which it won the Grand Prix Best Film and Best Screenplay at Fantasporto 2011. The film was sold to 30 countries and US remake rights have been picked up by Charlize Theron / Lionsgate.





Since Two Eyes Staring Accento Films built up a broad international network with access to international financiers in both Europe and the US.

Their first English language feature film psychological thriller MARIONETTE, starring Thekla Reuten, Peter Mullan and Bill Paterson will be released in 2020.

Accento has two more features in financing: futuristic thriller OUT OF MIND, and political paranoia thriller MINDHACK.

The current development slate includes several feature films for the Dutch and the international market, incl. thriller/film noir GOODBYE MR LEBEDEV, absurdistic comedy THE PSYCHONAUT. and black comedy/neo-noir KRIMP.
